Youngistaan ka WOW!

Ah well, Pepsi makes an appearance on this blog courtesy a contest launched by Indiblogger.

Now, the deal is that one is supposed to submit four funny posts and write a fifth one (this one, in case you’re counting) and answer a simple question, “If you were the game master, what challenge would you like to throw to Ranbir?”

I seriously hope you have seen the ad, with a certain Mr. Sanjay Dutt wearing an outlandishly designed, oversized costume (ostensibly to hide his beer belly) throwing challenges at Ranbir. And the challenges happen to be so ludicrous that one feels like telling Ranbir to take a month’s supply of Pepsi from oneself, and get the hell off the screen. (One can hear the girls saying “Boo” and asking one to shut up. :| )

Anyhow, one seems to digress. So, the point being to find a challenge for Ranbir. I guess the biggest challenge in one’s life these days is the fact that one’s favourite football club – Liverpool is performing even more abysmally than the Kolkata Knight Riders (no kidding!). So, the challenge would be, to kidnap the match official for the next 4 matches, take his place and ensure that the matches go Liverpool’s way, resulting in Champions League qualification.

Doing so will get Ranbir the key to the hidden stash of Pepsi that he can consume for a lifetime.

And commenting on this post will entitle you to a party from me, if I win the contest. So, as the game master, I challenge you to win a party for yourself from me! Comment now, it takes only 27.5 seconds.

Can it be extended to other teams too, there are a certain side wearing Red who could do with match officials being kidnapped lately :|

hmm.. sounds interesting. but shouldn't the challenge be something commensurate with the first two ones, which can fit the ad?

ohkk just 27 secs... good enough
So the above post is certified dhansu...
no kidding
this one was short and sweet...to be honest ...I may not have burst outlaughing but it did make me smile :-)
so thanks for that... and I hope we commentators(is it the adjective used for people who comment on your blog?? :O ) do get entitled to a treat..... Keep Loving Yourself

Thanks for acknowledging just how crappy the advertisement is. Whatever were they thinking when they made it!

Anyhow, I have spent more than 27.5 seconds here (extremely curious about this number though :)), and will be back for the following posts too. :)

Best of luck!

well, well, well.. i can't agree less about the insanity of the commercial.

Sumit said...

@Atul... agreed! Maybe for future challenges, we could consider that.

Sumit said...

@Rajdeep, thanks! The rules didn't specify any such funda, so I decided to take some creative liberties. :P

Sumit said...

@Amul... lol! I owe you a treat if I win, ok Mr. Commentator? :)

Sumit said...

@RB... thanks for the comment, and the 27.5 is just a number put there to generate some curiosity. Looks like it works!

KKR??? Seriously!! Stop kidding yourself! Liverpool's recent form is more comparable to KXIP than KKR!

Ooh! And the Jersey matches! B-)

Also, Best of luck with the contest! I await my beer fest! AND I AM NOT PAYING THE VAT!!

Sumit said...

@Archie... thanks! :D And yes, the commercial could/should have been better, to say the least.

Sumit said...

@desparado... Kings XI is on the upswing, we're not! :( And btw, the jersey doesn't match at all. Also, the reason why KKR is a better analogy is because they are too dependent on 1-2 players.

Well done my friend...it's not the first time I have told you, your humor quotient has always been outstanding...great topic to have chosen...I so hate that atrociously painful ad...what on earth is Sanjay Dutt thinking? Peopl will drop to any level for money...Talk about extended mid-life crisis :P

Hope you win and in case you do...I can think of a few places where we can have the treat...does Roast Duck ring a bell :D

Nitesh said...

think of the 3 options that you would give to Ranbir... Mr dutt always has 3 options for Mr Youngistan ka WOW

the liverpool idea is really kul....may b ths wil giv Ranbir sumthn worthwhile to do othr thn chasin katrina...:)

Sanmoy said...

In my opinion, given the nature of the challenge, Ranbir would be expecting a stash of Carlsberg (Liverpool sponsors) rather than jaggery-water (read Pepsi)

Sumit said...

@Nitesh... the figure is arbit. :P And I don't change the rules of the game, I change the game! So Ranbir gets only one option.

@Sam... thanks! I agree, it's a cool idea. ;)

@Sanmoy... yeah, Carlsberg would've been cool, but Pepsi is sponsoring the prize, you see. :P

Why don't you choose a cause closer to home? You better suggest something which might save Kings XI the ignominy of being the Knight Riders of this year :)?

Every commercial in the series has 3 options and anyone answering the correct sequence will win the 50 lakhs cash stash. But with each ad, the probability to win goes down by a factor of three. Currently only one out of 27 possible sequence of answers is on its way towards the prize. I seriously doubt whether anybody will end up with winning anything. Rather than spending through the nose on stars who are clearly past their prime(reference: blog),and then doling out 50 lakhs, the company could have simply doled out the cash the traditional "look under the crown" way, and achieved customer engagement at a lesser price.
Last but not the least, Mr. Benitez should leave "one's" club with immediate effect, before further damage is done, leave alone champions league dreams.

Sanjay Dutt's 'costume' is ridiculous. He should have slipped into something more comfortable, like a coma.

Gurdit said...

I think the challenge to Ranbir would be to come up with an ad as ridiculous as the one he's currently in.
